What is Eczmol?

Eczmol is categorised as an antimicrobial emollient.

Eczmol contains the antimicrobial agent chlorhexidine. This agent has been widely used in the Health Service for more than 50 years.

Eczmol also contains emollient agents to soothe and soften dry skin.

Chlorhexidine kills bacteria quickly, and this, together with the concentration that is achieved on the skin, helps to explain why resistance to this agent is rare.

The level of chlorhexidine in Eczmol produces a lasting antimicrobial effect on the skin surface, an effect longer than 6 hours has been reported.

With Eczmol, the effect endures for more than 4 hours when used as a leave-on product, and for more than 2 hours when used as a soap substitute.
